*Any* time an outcome hinges on either a protest or a situation such
as this one, at least one team (Vanderbilt) is likely to feel
aggrieved, and some people will wonder about the legitimacy of the
outcome.
[To be fair, though, many of the protests that come up cannot be
blamed on any one specific person; in some cases, they hinge on
rather minute points that might never have came to the writer and/or
editor.]
It is unfortunate that no official tiebreaker procedure was in place
(and somewhat surprising, given the sheer number of similar
situations that occur in QB tournaments). In a situation like this,
though, I'm not sure that it *could* be resolved impartially.
