OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT -- Illinois Open 2003: Transfigured Spite

Greetings all:

Hope your respective summers are going well.  The time has come to 
announce the Illinois Open 2003:  Transfigured Spite, which will take 
place on the beautiful campus of the University of Illinois at Urbana-
Champaign on November 15, 2003.

This is an ACF-style, packet-submission tournament with an expected 
difficulty approximately equal to that of Kelly MacKenzie's Wildcat 
Invitational Tournament (i.e. somewhere between ACF Regionals and 
Nationals, although most likely tending toward the easier side of 
that).  I am expecting a packet from all participating teams except 
those consisting _entirely_ of first- and second-year players.

I have heard that there is possible interest in mirroring this 
tournament in several places around the country, so if all interested 
parties could e-mail me at your earliest convenience (potru at 
students dot uiuc dot edu), that would be excellent.  I haven't 
figured out requirements for mirroring yet, but we'll work something 
out.

1/1 Geography
1/1 Your Choice (Trash or Academic, that's why it's your
choice)

As an added note, please try to vary your questions over time period 
and region.  I'm not setting any specific guidelines because I 
imagine that most of the people who are going to play in this 
tournament are experienced enough to know what this means.  If you do 
need more specific guidelines, please e-mail me (potru at students 
dot uiuc dot edu) and I'll be happy to tell you everything you need 
to know.

Prices and tournament discounts will come when I repost this in the 
fall, but here are the packet submission discounts if you want to get 
started early (which would earn my eternal gratitude, I promise).

Prior to Sept 27: $-30
October 4:	  $-20
October 11:	  $-10
October 18:	  $-5
October 25:	  No penalty
November 1:	  $+10
After Nov. 1:	  $+20
After Nov. 5:	  Sorry, you're not playing unless I like you a
whole 
lot or unless you've got an incredibly good excuse
