After only a couple of days, I already have four teams showing interest in playing at the inaugural UGA Tournament by the Sea. With that said, there are also some update concerning date place, etc. 1- The tournament is now March 6, 2004 instead of March 13. We figured this would be better in case of spring breaks and also the fact that the convention center has five rooms open for that day, which mean we will only be able to take eleven (11) teams total (if that many do show interest). I have already told the center to reserve the rooms, so the ball is now rolling.... 2-When UGA called this the Tournament by the Sea, we weren't lying: the Jekyll Island Convention Center is indeed ON THE SEA, so that will had a different feel in terms of where we're playing. If you havent figured it out yet, this UGA tournament is NOT IN ATHENS. 3- As an added bonus to those interested, we may be able to hold a mini-golf tournament at the mini-course on Jekyll (assuming they're open that early in March). You dont have to take part in it and not doing so won't affect you standing with the main tournament. I thought it would also be a nice (and different) touch to an ordinary tournament. Gee....Mini-golf....how much more trashy can ya get :) 4- At this point, only two days after I posted the idea, I have had four schools either say "yes" or "pencil me in." They are (in no real order): South Georgia, Abraham Baldwin Ag College, UGA (of course) and Alabama (the "pencil me in"). As of right now, that leaves seven (7) slots. 5-If youre interested, please feel free to contact me at either dawgboy30152 at aol dot com or at Quizdogs at uga dot edu. Thanks, Robin, UGA CBAT
