The Partnership for Academic Competition Excellence proudly announces that the 2004 National Scholastics Championship is tentatively scheduled for June 12-13 weekend at the University of Maryland, College Park, MD; and the 2005 NSC tentatively for June 11-12 weekend at Valencia Community College, Orlando, Florida (the weekend before the 2005 Panasonic Academic Challenge). More information will be forthcoming about the 2004 NSC as details are solidified. Participation in the NSC is generally awarded to teams with automatic bids earned throughout the year at various PACE-affiliated tournaments. Any high school competition with at least 12 teams playing a minimum of 4 non-elimination games (regardless of game format) is eligible for qualification, and the top 4 teams are awarded automatic bids, depending on the size of the field. School programs cannot earn more than two bids during the course of the qualification year, so bids may be awarded to teams at the recommendation of tournament directors or the discretion of PACE. In addition, we are encouraging the submission of nominations for the Benjamin Cooper Academic Ambassador Award for service to the high school academic competition community. Nominations should be submitted to Patricia Southard (southard_at_...) and Thomas Chuck (etchuck_at_...).
