Now that the midnight hour has come and gone, I can now officially cement some of the details for the tournament. TEAMS: We are pleased to announce that we have twenty teams taking part in this tournament. Seeing as we have that many, we are able to split the field into two 10-team divisions (so each team will be guaranteed at least nine rounds of play). They are, in order of their round robin placement: QUEEN MARY Division 1- Valencia CC Red 2- Palm Beach CC Green 3-South Georgia Gold 4-Georgia Perimeter 5- Abraham Baldwin Ag College 6- UGA Red 7- UTC 8- Furman 9- Emory 10- Duke QUEEN ELIZABETH Division 1- Valencia CC Black 2- Palm Beach Gold 3- South Georgia Black 4- Macon State 5- Dalton State 6- Wofford 7- Georgia State 8- South Carolina 9- Central Florida CC 10- UGA Black SCHEDULE: The following is a rough idea of what the schedule will be on Saturday: 8am – 9am: Team registration 845am: Reader's Meeting 9am: Team Meeting 915ish: 1st round Lunch: Noonish Playoffs: Around 4pm We should be done around 5pm…we hope. DIRECTIONS: The following are general directions from the major cities that some of our teams are from. You're not bound to using these directions. If you know a better way, please by all means use it so you don't get lost. CHATTANOOGA: 75 south to 285 east to 85 north to GA 316 (exit 104 I believe). Take 316 east (it's the only way you can go) until you pass a Wal-Mart / Cracker Barrel. Continue on until you're on Atlanta Highway. This will take you directly into Athens. COLUMBIA: Take 20 west until you get to the US 78 exit (which should say THOMSOM and WASHINGTON). Take 78 West through Washington and Lexington. (Watch out though…78 suddenly turns off to the left before Washington). This will take you directly to downtown Athens. GREENVILLE: Take 85 south to the US 441 exit (Commerce, GA). Take 441 south for about 30 miles until you reach the Athens Loop. Go under the Athens Loop and the road becomes MLK Drive. College Ave will be a few miles ahead on the right. This road will take you under a couple of railroad bridges and then to downtown Athens. MACON: Take 75 North to GA 83 (near Forsyth). Go through Monticello and then hook on to US 441/US 129, going through Watkinsville until you reach the Athens Loop. Go on the Athens Loop east bound two exits to College Station. Turn left off the exit (going under the Loop). UGA's south campus will be on the right. Go to the RR crossing at East Campus Rd, and turn right. This road will take you to downtown. (You'll go right behind Sanford Stadium in the process). FLORIDA: Take 75 north through Valdosta, Tifton and Macon. Take the Macon by-pass if you wish not to stop in Macon. Resume on 75 north until you get to the exit for GA 83. Then use the directions from Macon to get to Athens. FOR DIRECTIONS TO THE STUDENT LEARNING CENTER, THE SITE OF THE TOURNAMENT (FROM DOWNTOWN ATHENS): go to the intersection of Broad and Lumpkin Streets. Turn onto to South Lumpkin Street (heading away from downtown). Go through three traffic lights. At the fourth light, turn left into the Tate Center parking lot. Veer off to the left and then turn left into the gated employee lot (which will be open). The huge building with a dome on it in front of you as you turn into the lot is the SLC. The meeting room is located on the first floor. Use the doors on the right side of the building to enter. There will be signs directing you to the meeting room. If you're bringing buzzers and clocks, please remember to bring them. While we may not use all of them, it's nice to have some back-up buzzers just in case. Readers….once you arrive, please come to the table to get your room assignments. We have ten group study rooms on the 4th floor. If you're able to bring some volunteers to help score and such that would be great. Seeing how there are no bye teams, we will need all the help we can find. Thanks Robin UGA CBAT
