The Frederick Douglass Invitational Championship was held today at
the Unviersity of Rochester, and a field of 10 teams attended. The
top four teams after the round-robin portion of the tournament played
in a single elimination playoff, where Maryland and Michigan moved
onto the finals. In the end, Maryland, consisting entirely of Adam
Fine and Daniel Greenstein, walked away with the championship plaque,
going a perfect 9-0(2-0), which we congratulate them on.
Individual prizes were given to the top four scorers. The prizes
they chose are in parentheses.
Adam Fine (Sigmund Freud Action Figure)
Michael Philpy (Hardy Boys #109: The Prime-Time Crime)
Daniel Greenstein (The Ethel Merman Disco Album)
Lauren from Cornell (Benjamin Franklin Action Figure)
Many thanks go out to Dwight Kidder and Scott Francis for moderating,
and also to Rich from Pitt for volunteering to do so.
Full details and statistics will be posted within a few days.
Thanks again to all who helped out, and congratulations to Maryland
for an extremely well-played tournament. We sincerely hope that
everyone had a good time.
