For the first time, the University of Colorado will be hosting the T.R.A.S.H. regional jointly with the CU Trivia Bowl. A tradition since 1968, the CU Trivia Bowl grew out of the success of the Colorado team on the GE College Bowl, but was changed from academic to pop culture format. More info at http://home.comcast.net/~triviabowl. Due to scheduling conflicts, this event will be one week after many of the other T.R.A.S.H. regionals on November 15-16. The Trivia Bowl has typically been a single elimination tournament in the past, but with the T.R.A.S.H. format we will use a world cup style set of grouped round robin qualification sessions to gain seeding in a final single elimination tournament. With that change, we are a bit light on the equipment side, having a wonderful set, large scoreboard, and only one buzzer system. We would like to solicit assistance from any other organizations that might be able to provide on loan a number of buzzer systems. We have located 2 more thus far, but would like to utilize 5 additional systems so that we can handle the traditional 64 teams. Like everywhere, budget cutbacks abound - this event usually is a week long that we are cramming into a weekend, thus the parallelism of the T.R.A.S.H. format will be helpful. If you can provide one or more buzzer systems on loan, please contact Paul Bailey at 303 250 9371, pbailey_at_... or triviabowl_at_.... We also welcome any other suggestions you may have as we adapt the T.R.A.S.H. style of play.
