Eighteen teams from eight schools made the drive through the
cornfields today to attend the first Grinnell Undergraduate
Tournament
in Grinnell, Iowa. The teams were all very competitive, and at the
end
of the day the undefeated Carleton Tofu eked out a narrow 305-300
victory over the also-undefeated to that point University of St.
Thomas. Illinois Wesleyan University drove home with the third place
Cow trophy (please don't ask why our trophies had cows on them). On
behalf of the Grinnell College Academic Team, I want to thank all the
teams for coming out and lending a hand and buzzer systems-- this
tournament could not have happened without you.
Full stats and specific thank-yous will be up sometime this week on
the Grinnell quizbowl website, as soon as the room stops spinning.
Congratulations again to the winners and the other placers.
Cheers,
Brad Houston, GUT TD
