I have to concur with Lee on pretty much everything he said. The tournament ran ahead of schedule for UTC tournaments (I got home before 1 am, which is a victory in my book), and the scheduling of the brackets seemed a necessary product. The brackets were a little uneven, but of course that will always be a complaint whenever a tournament uses bracketing for scheduling. The questions were overall enjoyable, and most of the rounds were at a good level for a tournament this early in the year. We managed to score I believe around 325 points on the Seth packet against Athens State (who had some pretty bad luck with bonuses), which, though below our average score, wasn't bad. Overall the tournament was yet another positive experience at a UTC held event. However, there is one thing I would like to see replaced, and that is the single elimination playoffs. Something like completing a round robin I think would be a much more accurate reflection of team rankings. In this case, four teams from each division made it to a single elimination playoff with advantages held in the final. I think it would be a more accurate reflection of ranking if the top four teams from Samuel Bracket played the other top four teams from Thomas a Bracket and carried over the team records from the prelims, and in this case it would not have added a single round of play to the tournament. Just a thought, and a minor complaint about an overall well-run tournament. I thank Charlie and look forward to ACF Regionals. Stephen Webb
