Thirty teams descended on the University of South Florida in Tampa
for Saturday's 4th annual Novice Invitational Tournament.
In a mild upset, the Palm Beach Community College "Pests" upset the
University of Florida 350-335 in a very tight Gold flight final. Pre-
tournament favorite Valencia Red and highly-regarded South Georgia A
were knocked out in the semifinals.
Manatee Community College's Joseph C. was the highest scorer in the
tournament, averaging 75.0 ppg.
Special recognition goes to the team from Taylor County High School,
which finished a respectable 15th out of 30 teams.
Thanks to all of our readers, scorekeepers, and other tournament
volunteers for their invaluable help, making this one of our most
successful tournaments ever.
