At long last, they are here. Prelim stats can be found at: http://www.sccs.swarthmore.edu/users/04/noda/SNEWT%20VIII/stats.html Note, there are two errors: 1) The Penn A-Swat B game was somehow counted twice; Penn's record should be 9-1 and Swat A is 5-5; not 10-1 and 5-6. 2) Something was messed up with the "games played" part of the individual stats; most people have 15 GP, for some reason, even though each team played ten prelim rounds. For some even stranger reason, however, Elliot from CMU was counted as having played *24*! games. I don't have the computer expertise to see exactly what happened (and I haven't looked at the scoresheets in enough detail); but I suspect that, if nothing else, he probably should have gotten the high scorer award. If I can find another chunk of time in the future, I'll try to see what exactly went wrong. After prelim play, the standings were as thus: Ceceila Penn A 9-1 Swat C 9-1 CMU 8-2 Maryland 7-3 Swat A 5-5 PSU B 4-6 Bucknell 4-6 Prin .B 4-6 Rut.-New 3-7 Penn C 2-8 JHU A 0-10 Duncan Virginia 10-0 Prin. A 9-1 Pitt A 8-2 Swat B 7-3 PSU A 5-5 Rut.-NB 5-5 Bryn Mawr 4-6 Penn B 3-7 JHU B 2-8 Penn D 1-9 Nova 1-9 The top three teams in each bracket played three rounds of cross-bracket playoffs. CMU and Pitt mutually decided not to play the final round, seeing as it was pushing 7 PM by then. Virginia easily won, going 13-0 on the day. There was a 3-way tie for third place between Penn A, Princeton A, and Swat C; all three had a 9-1 prelim record, a 2-3 record between top bracket teams, and a 10-3 record overall; Penn was awarded second and Princeton 3rd by virtue of head-to-head. Top Bracket Team Prelim Playoff Agg. Total Virginia 10-0 3-0 5-0 13-0 Penn A 9-1 1-2 2-3 10-3 Prin. Originally there were going to be two more six team playoff brackets and one final four team bracket, but three teams- Swat B, Penn D, and Villanova, all left after the prelims. Complicating matters, all three were *from the same bracket!* The next bracket of six was assembled, skipping over Swat B, and seven of the nine projected games were played; I know that Swat A left before they played Rutgers-NB; and there is no record of the Maryland-Bryn Mawr game. The final bracket was more complicated. The two Johns Hopkins teams (which were both understaffed) combined forces to bring the total to an even six. However, it wasn't quite even, as 4.5 of the remaining teams were from the Cecelia bracket. This, in addition to the fact that three of the projected games went unplayed, accounts for the wide variation in games played and especially aggregate playoff record. (which was total record in both prelims and playoffs against teams in the playoff bracket). The three teams that left early ae not *in* any bracket, but I have placed them where their record would put them. The joint JHU playoff team has their playoff record counted for both teams.
