Announcement: Grinnell High School Tournament, 2/28/04

(I don't know how many of the people I want to reach with this
announcement actually frequent this board-- but Grinnell's email
system currently isn't letting me send email to outside addresses, so
I figure this is better than nothing)

The Grinnell College Academic Team will be holding the first annual
Grinnell High School Tournament (GHiST) on February 28, 2004, in sunny
(?) Grinnell, IA. (Grinnell, for those of you unfamiliar with the
location, is midway between Iowa City and Des Moines on I-80). This
tournament will be using questions from NAQT Invitational Series #37
and follow NAQT rules, a list of which are available at www.naqt.com.
(The exception to this is that rounds will be untimed). Each team
attending will be guaranteed at least 9 rounds, with more possible in
playoff rounds. This tournament will also be an "official"
NAQT event,
meaning that the top 15% of attending teams will qualify for the NAQT
High School National Championship Tournament, to be held this year
either June 5-6 or June 12-13.

Fee Structure will be as follows:
$45 for first team
$35 for subsequent teams
-$5 for a working buzzer system (limit 1 per team)
Minimum Fee: $30

We are tentatively limiting registration to 32 teams, though this
number may change depending on interest. If you are interested in

look forward to seeing you and your teams in Grinnell on the 28th!
