Hey everyone, this is a reminder that Brandeis University will be hosting the NE sectional on February 7th on our campus in Waltham, MA. The contact is me, Dan Passner, my email is danpass _at_ brandeis . edu (remove the spaces.) In the event that you cannot reach me, please e-mail Kai Kadoich at kai _at_ brandeis . edu . Times: Expect the tournament to start at 9AM. What this means is that you should be at the main location (Still TBA, but it will likely either be the Schwartz auditorium or the Golding auditorium.) Now, I want to get a consensus from teams of how many rounds they would wish to play. I believe every team should get their money's worth. If that means 13-15 matches or 10 matches because most people want to get out and do other things, so be it. So, let me know what you prefer. Our last tournament ended at 4:20 as everything went smoothly, so expect this to end at 5-6 depending on how many rounds are played. Fees: Base fee $110 Discounts: clock -5 (we need clocks) working buzzers - 10 EACH subsequent team -10 subtract two dollars for every 50 miles traveled (one way only.) minimum fee per team $60 Let me make it clear that these fees are not set in stone. If you have financial issues, talk to me, things WILL be arranged. To me, the most important thing is that you play, although if you can pay the fees, please do so. Rooms: There are many hotels in Waltham, their fees range from 70- 200 a night (listed.) The key word there is listed. I recommend you go to biddingfortravel.com and go to the boston suburbs board. You will learn how to get Waltham hotel rooms through priceline for much less. If you still want to do conventional booking, e-mail me, I will see what I can do. Teams so far: As of now, I have seen a dearth of teams actually tell me they are coming. They are: Dartmouth (2 teams), MIT (3 teams) and Yeshiva. Cmon guys we've run three tournaments in the last year and they all went off smoothly, we know what we are doing, and we are very responsive. So, don't hesitate to get in touch with me. !Special idea! I have devised a new game format that can be applied to either TRASH or academic and I was thinking of giving it a shot after the Sectionals as a free tournament (This time it will probably be TRASH, though more respected trash.) The format is called T'PAUER, e-mail me for details. Thats it for this e-mail, I will keep you all posted, sorry if this e-mail is long, I try to leave as few stones unturned as possible. Dan
