Eight teams made it out to Waltham, Mass for the first ever Brandeis Underground TRASH tourney. A full round-robin was played followed by rebracketing the top and bottom four teams, after which another three matches were played. I would like to make special note of Penn who traveled all the way down for this event, when everyone else was coming from much closer. The winning team was Brandeis A: Grover Cleveland Steamer (Chris Rantz, Rob Jackel, Dan Passner,) who went 9-1 losing only in the last round and only by ten points. Second place went to Mike Hoey-Lukakis and Ahmed Ismail, whose team name escapes me at the moment. They finished 7-3. Third Place went to Batman and Superbatman which was Erik Nielsen and three empty chairs. Perhaps notable was the performance of Brandeis D: Reproduced without the express written consent of ABC and the National Football League (Jenny, Margo, Marc and ?[please forgive me for forgetting])who finished fourth in the tourney with a 5-5 record. They were composed of four freshman, two of whom had never set foot in a practice, much less a competition. They were the only team to defeat Brandeis A. Awards included a CDs Beanie Baby music, The Magic of Zamfir, Kathy Lee Gifford, Stuttering John, Bushwick Bill and the music of northern Sumatra. The name that-tune round had no clear winner. There were some scary buzzes, but who stole the kishke, planet rock, we will all go together when we go and calling all citizens by blood of abraham were among the few to go dead. I thank everyone for coming down (Bragg, Mike & Ahmed, Erik, Penn, house teams.) I should have individual stats along with individual awards fairly soon. Hope to see many of you at Sectionals. Dan
