The Quiz Bowl Team at USF cordially invites you to attend its 5th annual SUN `N FUN QUIZ-IN on Saturday, March 13, 2004 in the Phyllis P. Marshall Center on the campus of the University of South Florida. Over the past five years, this event has attracted teams from all over the country—often those looking for something fun to do on spring break! It offers a great mix of questions accessible to novice and masters players alike. The event will be followed on Sunday by a TRASH (i.e., non-academic) tournament called Beer Bowl IV; see http://www.ctr.usf.edu/quizbowl for more details. To register, please email jeremycec_at_... no later than March 6, and let me know the number of teams, buzzers, and readers you will be bringing. We will provide official receipts at the tournament. FYI, the "Quiz Bowl Team at USF" is a non-profit organization, but it is not chartered as a 501(c)3 organization. Our Federal Tax ID number is 593627376. Eligibility: The tournament field is open to all teams composed of collegiate Quiz Bowl players. Special exceptions may be made for "provisional" teams (e.g. composed of masters players or hybrid teams from different schools), who will not be eligible for prizes. Format: This is a packet submission tournament. Each team is required to submit a packet (see guidelines) below, or else pay an additional $25 fee. Each match will consist of 20 tossups and bonuses, divided into two untimed halves. The tossups will have "power marks". The tournament will consist of some form of round robin followed by a playoff to decide the tournament champion. Schedule: Team sign-in is from 8-9 a.m. in the commons area outside Room 101 of the Marshall Center. See our Web site for packet guidelines and updated info as the tournament date approaches. Lunch: We will provide pizza and soft drinks for lunch at the tournament so that everyone does not have to go out to eat. We will leave out a box for donations. Prices: Base team fee is $75. (Minimum fee with all discounts: $40) Discounts: • Second team: -$10 • Third team: -$15 • Packet received in good order by 2/25/03: -$10 • Traveling from out of state: -$10 • Working buzzer system: -$10 • Bring competent tournament official: -$10 * Only first teams need to provide a packet.
