thoughts:
1. Matt, your initial post was unnecessarily sarcastic -- though I
do sympathize/largely agree with your viewpoint.
2. Plenty of people enjoy CBI...that's fine. I don't know of anyone
who would assert it's an "academic" tournament.
3. No one has any business making judgments about ACF off of
tournament experiences or packets dating back to 1996.
4. If you didn't play CBI you'd be able to attend far more
tournaments, trash or otherwise.
5. DePauw suggested this hybrid tournament idea before (in naive
earnestness they suggested that it would determine once and for all
what was the best qb team in the country). It fell flat. The only
people who are likely to be interested are trash players. Trash
players tend to prefer all-trash tournaments...so, no, I don't see
this as working. But I guess you could try and find out.
