This is the initial announcement for the sixth(!) installment of This Tournament Goes to Eleven, to be held on the weekend of October 8-10, 2004 at the University of Iowa. TTGT11 is a unique tournament. All packets are either theme packets or subject packets. Teams composed of 2-8 people can participate. Two packets are read concurrently each round, with the 2-8 teammates able to split themselves up between the two rooms however they feel would be most efficacious. This format has proven both interesting and challenging for both newcomers as well as qb vetrans in the past. In addition, we traditionally have a head-to-head individual scoring competition. This will probably be my last hurrah in quizbowl, and I'd like to go out in a blaze of glory. I would like to run this tournament with a field of 13-20 teams, utilizing a full round robin on the low end and bracketed round robins followed by playoffs on the high end of that range. So mark your calendars; this one's gonna rock. If you are interested in attending this tournament, I would like your input as to whether your group would prefer a Fri night/long Saturday tournie OR a Sat/Sun tournie. Dont' worry; input will not be taken as confirmation of attendance, but it will assist in shaping the tournament. Further info and a webpage will follow in the coming weeks. ++Andrew Juhl Pres., UIAQC
