Speaking only for myself again. David Goodman wrote, via Craig Barker: "The reason to disallow a school's 'B' team is its supposed inferiority to the school's 'A' team." I disagree. I think there's some merit to the idea of allowing a greater variety of schools to compete for the title -- so long as each school itself can send a team that is not (Dom's favorite NAQT coinage =)) "clearly inferior." I've come to support the idea of allowing just one team per school per division. At first I wondered how to allow for the difference between the undergraduate title and the rest of Division I. Then, however, I decided that the tradeoff there should be the club's decision to make. I like a plan in which a host school would get one (1) automatic bid, for use in either division. If it wished to qualify teams in both divisions then the automatic bid would apply to Division 1 and the "house team" would have to be Division 2. (On theory here is that D2-eligible players would tend to be less experienced as game officials.) As Eric H. mentioned, these are issues for NAQT to discuss at its annual meeting. The plan above is what I'll advocate there unless someone has convincing arguments against it. Presumably other NAQT members will have their own opinions and somehow consensus will be reached. Matt
