Hi everyone, I just wanted to announce a pre-Nationals academic tournament (some might even call it a warm up) that will take place either at the University of Michigan or at the University of Chicago (the gears are turning, but this will be finalized fairly soon, my hope is that people who know they're interested in the tournament will email me and tell me which site they prefer) on March 9th, 2005 (Kelly's old Wildcat time). The questions will be written by Leo Wolpert (science, various other things) and myself (everything else). Difficulty will be about Chicago Open 2004 level and there will be a minimum of 18 packets available of 20 and 20 questions, distribution will be straight ACF, but I will, by popular demand, include "power" or "super" tossups (for now we will stick with the latter name since the former is trademarked or something; suffice it to say if you get the question early you get to bask in the glory of extra points). Who can come you ask? Anyone-- as long as they pay the measly fee of 80 bucks per team (I am also amenable to making some monetary concessions for one or two person teams and those who have to travel a great deal to get to the midwest for this exciting event, just let me know in advance). Ok, I think that is it. Any questions, comments, suggestions for beating the Argentine basketball team at the Olympics, should be sent to me at eberdich at umich dot edu. thanks, Ezequiel Berdichevsky
