The University of Florida is very pleased to announce the Ron Zook Memorial: Good Riddance Zooker on Sunday, January 16th 2005. This is the day after the non-trash Sunshine State Invitational at UF on MLK Weekend. The tournament will be a packet-submission tournament (any playoff rounds will be written by UF) and should be over by 4pm for those with longer drives back. Note on playoffs: The more packets submitted by participants, the more playoff rounds we can have. The tournament format will most likely be a round robin. Rounds will consist of 20 untimed tossups with one lame available to each team. There will be suitably trashy prizes awarded at the conclusion of the tournament. All carbon-based life forms are eligible to play. Free agents can contact Michael Napier at the address below for placement. Costs - $80 1st team $70 2nd team $55 3rd team (all teams must submit packs) -$10 for out-of-state teams -$10 for buzzers -$15 for packs by 12/1/04 -$10 for packs by 12/15/04 +$ 0 for packs by 12/29/04 +$10 for packs by 01/06/05 +$15 for packs by 01/13/05 +$25 for no pack submission (again, if all teams submit packs, there will be several playoff rounds) Pack breakdown Packs should consist of 22 tossups and 22 bonuses of moderate difficulty (If you are the only member of your entire squad to have heard of a subject, it may be too hard) with the following general breakdown 3-4 sports (no more than 2 of a particular kind) 3-4 film (no more than 2 from any decade) 3-4 television (no more than 2 from any decade) 3-4 music (no more than 2 from any decade) 2-3 trashy literature (including comics) 2-3 miscellaneous trash For more information or to register a team, contact Michael Napier at napier at ufl dot edu .
