Sounds like you're getting a raw deal... At Athens State, we were able to use as many rooms as necessary for free as long as we reserved them a few weeks in advance... We couldn't have afforded to pay for them. It's really a shame how hard it is to get colleges and universities behind quiz bowl... -Lee ----- Original Message ----- From: Willie Chen To: quizbowl_at_yahoogroups.com Sent: Wednesday, December 08, 2004 10:40 AM Subject: [quizbowl] Re: Survey: Room fees for events on campus? Eric: At UC Irvine, classrooms are free at all times, and we _really_ take advantage of that. Student Center conference rooms are free IF we do not request special set-up. For QB purposes, we often had to re- arrange the tables and chairs and order podiums. The fee is about $5 per room. There's also a $20 per hour extra charge if we want to open the doors early (The Student Center opens at 11:00 AM, so sometimes we'd like to start at 9:00--that'll be $40 flat fee). On top of all that, we can even request funding from the Dean of Students to cover the set-up fees, so everything turned out free! I wouldn't pay $45 per room, especially those in the History Corner... Willie Yahoo!
