Some comments. I'll emphasize here that I'm not associated with GWU in any way. 1) Balance - like it or not, this seemed to be a balanced tournament in terms of question distribution and difficulty. This has always been a bone of contention at trash tournaments, but this seemed quite balanced. While certain items weren't really trashy, there weren't many of them. 2) Pronunciation guides - if you're not sure if someone is going to know how to pronounce a word, do a pronunciation guide just to be safe. While most items seemed as though there was a way they should be pronounced, guides help the moderator make sure that he or she is not making a mistake. 3) Statkeeping - Use computers if at all possible, and have at least two people compiling stats, particularly W/L. It really sucks if you suddenly fail to make the playoffs because somebody made a math mistake or put numbers in the wrong column. 4) Slap Bowl - It's evil. Please bring buzzer systems if you have them. If you have extra ones, please bring them too to ensure against the one buzzer system that dies on the trip. 5) Cursing - Back here again. One player, in full view of some of the tournament officials, let out a stream of nasty profanities. I won't name the player, their team, or the incident that caused the outburst. The cursing did strike me as exceptionally childish. If qb were an NCAA sport, the NCAA or league bigwigs would throw out players and coaches for cussing out officials. If qb hopes to draw even meager notice from any type of media, such actions will retard this coverage significantly. Or, put more simply - grow up.
