Hi, everybody: I know it's still a few months before UCI Open V, but I thought I should repost the original invitation. Please e-mail me (williechen7_at_...) if you are interested. This tournament is open to anyone who have not attended the 2005 NAQT High School nationals. Willie ************************************************************ This is the official announcement for UCI Open V, to take place on Saturday July 9, 2005. We will be using the packets from NAQT High School nationals. Here are the details: 1. Qualification This is an open tournament, meaning anybody can play as long as they have not heard the question set at NAQT nationals in Chicago. A team can consist of one to six players, but only four people can play at the same time. 2. Fee Structure The base fee for this tournament is $100, with the following discounts: Buzzers (-$5) Long distance (100+ miles) (-$10) Second team from the same school/institution (-$10) Experienced Moderators (-$40) No clock discount (rounds are not timed) Minimum fee per team: $60 Please make a check out to College Bowl Club--ASUCI and bring it to the tournament. There will be a late fee of $10 if the team pays after the tournament. Cash payment is also accepted for this event. 3. Prizes and Awards To be determined, but most likely books and/or trophies 4. Location and Time UC Irvine campus, Humanities Hall (meet in Room 178) Saturday, July 9, 2005, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM 5. Contact Information Willie Chen, Tournament Director (williechen7_at_...) Andrea Wong, College Bowl Club President (andrea.wywong_at_...) 6. Registration Please register by June 30th, 2005 by e-mailing either Willie or Andrea. Please e-mail us your team name and the names of all the team members. Creative names, of course, are encouraged. 7. Statistics Currently, we do not have the software for keeping live/running stats. If you can share that information with us, please e-mail Willie. Otherwise, official tournament statistics will be available within one week after the tournament. 8. Parking and Transporation Parking is $7 all day. Please buy a permit from any of the parking structures and drive up to Parking Lot 7 (see www.uci.edu for a campus map) and park in the unmarked stalls. Lot 7 is extremely close to Humanities Hall. 9. Hotels, etc. While there are numerous hotels in the city of Irvine, I do not recommend staying in any of them because they are quite costly. Nearby cities like Costa Mesa and Santa Ana might offer cheaper alternatives. Hope to hear from you soon! Willie Chen
