October 1, 2005 will be the date of the 3rd Annual Frederick
Douglass Invitational Championship (FDIC) hosted by the University
of Rochester's Thelion Society. The FDIC is a tournament played on
an NAQT Invitational Series (This year it will be Series #52 -
please make sure your team is not planning to attend another event
using this set). It is a good chance to introduce new or
inexperienced players to the circuit, as well as an opportunity for
seasoned teams and players to have some early-season practice. This
year we are going to run the tournament in a modified CUT-style: Any
team consisting of at least one player with two years of collegiate
quizbowl experience will be asked to limit themselves to two players
total.
Tournament Fees:
Per-team Base Fee: $100
2-player team discount: -$10
Buzzer discount: -$5/buzzer set (max. 3 per school)
Qualified moderator discount: -$10/moderator
Multiple team discount: -$15/team (2nd team pays $85, 3rd team $70,
etc.)
Travel Discount: 200+ Miles -$15
Travel Discount: 350+ Miles -$25
Minimum Fee Per Team: $50.
Registration Deadline: September 21.
All distances will be based on Mapquest, and all funds are in US
Dollars.
We had a terrific tournament last year, and are hoping to hold
another successful event this fall. Please contact me at
