Contents: 1) Science Monstrosity Mirror following Chicago Open Mirror _at_ MD 2) Chicago Open Mirror Update 3) Gottfried Keller Mirror Update ****** 1) Jordan Boyd-Graber is trying to organize a mirror of the Science Monstrosity, to be held July 29 (Saturday Afternoon/Evening) after the Chicago Open Mirror (you can check out his earlier post). Any interested parties should email him ASAP at jgb_at_... [jgb (at) Princeton (dot) edu] The tournament will be held in the Armory following a break after the Chicago Open Mirror. Please do not email me regarding this, as all you will do is delay your message from reaching Jordan. ****** 2) For the Chicago Open Mirror, we're going to be running a modified singles format. The players will be shuffled on teams every round, allowing players to experience working with new people to mop the floor with their regular teammates. Winners will be determined in two categories: individual scoring and individual Win-Loss record. As far as logistics go, we'll start registration at 9 in the Armory (the exact room will be sent out closer to the tournament), with matches starting when everybody shows up or 9:30, whichever is sooner. We will be having at least 8 rounds of play (up to 13, including playoffs); most likely 9 prelims and 2 playoffs if people are interested. Depending on how large the field gets (it's never too late to register unless I've made the schedules), we will probably end up with four "teams" playing each round. The following people are registered for the Chicago Open Mirror: - Dan Suzman - Morgan Saxby - Jason Keller - Jordan Boyd-Graber et al - Maryland House as needed ****** 3) The Gottfried Keller Trash Tournament Mirror will be run like a normal tournament, meaning teams and whatnot. We have a few teams registered and some free agents, so I suggest everybody talk to each other to try to figure something out. Again, registration is still open, so feel free to sign up a squad. For logistics, we'll start registration at 9 in the Armory (the exact room will be sent out closer to the tournament, very likely to be the same as for the Chicago Open Mirror), with matches starting when everybody shows up or 9:30, which ever is sooner. There will be a maximum of 10 rounds at this tournament, which means we'll probably end up with a double round-robin and maybe playoffs. The following people are registered for the Gottfried Keller Mirror: Teams: - Arthur Fleming, Adam Fine, Michelle Cantave, Jason Dettelbach - Dan Boylan et al - Jordan Boyd-Graber et al* - might include Jason Keller Trying to put together a team: - Michael Starsinic Free Agents: - Jason Keller* - Jack Brounstein - Andy Hu - James Quintong In the event that people are unable to figure out whom to play with by the start of the tournament, free agents will be put on or in teams during registration. ****** If you have any questions or see something that needs correcting, please let me know (crettere_at_... [crettere (at) umd (dot) edu]). - Casey
