I think there's some confusion here. EFT is currently slated to take place on October 7th at several sites. However, the Midwest site (Chicago) is planning on running EFT one week later, on the 14th, to accomodate UIUC--my understanding is that you guys have a high school tournament on the 7th that can't be moved. Assuming that's still the case, I guess you still can't make it to Deep Bench, but the Deep Bench date shouldn't be a conflict with a college tournament. If the high school tournament has been canceled or moved to a different date, please let me know so we can figure out whether we'll move the Midwest EFT back to the 7th. I apologize for being so slow about posting about the Midwest EFT date change. The EFT crew will try to get the various hosts to post official announcements in the near future, so everyone will know what's going on. I'll note that it looks like Georgia Tech will host a mirror on the 8th, since they have a big sports event on the 7th. Also, in case anyone wants to harvest my email address from this message, my current email is setht AT uchicago DOT edu. -Seth --- In quizbowl_at_yahoogroups.com, "Michael Angelo Sorice" <msorice_at_...> wrote: > > We'd love to go, except for that other tournament we're already going > to at Chicago on the same date? > > MaS > UIUC ABT > > --- In quizbowl_at_yahoogroups.com, "Robert Hentzel" <topquark_at_> wrote: > > > > Players and Coaches -- > > > > Ezra Lyon (former Carleton and Minnesota) and I (former Iowa State) > > are pleased to announce that the Minnesota Deep Bench tournament will > > be resurrected this year and held on the weekend of October 7, 2006, > > at the University of Minnesota. > > > > This is a packet-submission tournament in which schools compete via > > four-person teams as well as in singles and doubles matches. > > > > The full announcement may be found here: > > > > http://www.naqt.com/mqba/deepbench/2006/announcement.html > > > > and a description of the format may be found here: > > > > http://orgs.carleton.edu/quizteam/format.html > > > > This is a true invitational; the initial list of invited teams is: > > > > * Carleton > > * Chicago > > * Drake > > * Grinnell > > * Illinois > > * Iowa > > * Iowa State > > * Minnesota > > * Northwestern > > * St. Olaf > > * Wisconsin > > > > If these teams decline, others that have expressed an interest may be > > chosen to replace them. > > > > Ezra and I are also looking for teams to write additional > > singles/doubles rounds (26 tossups, no bonuses) in exchange for a copy > > of the questions used.
