The teams competing at TRASHionals were surprised when a disappointed TRASH committee told everyone would be playing double round robin. As a result, seven teams are currently involved in a circle of death for first place and the rest were all within 2 games of last place. The theme rounds also generated a lot of grumbling as the "Matt Colvin Tribute Packet" was revealed, on which Anthony de Jesus went an astounding 13-7. To no one surprise, no one else playing that packet answered a single tossup. Anthony remarked, "There's a lot of trash in classics... and the Colvin pseudoscience knowledge helped me a lot." Preliminary statistics currently have Andrew Yaphe leading the field with a PPG of 160, followed by Tom Waters at 147.368 PPG. Keenan member Craig Barker (who surprisingly is averaging just -2.57 PPG) summarized the feel of the questions as "too few hockey questions, too much opera." State College appears to be leading in PPG among the teams in the circle-of-death with 823.1 PPG, leading the Gerbils who have a paltry 810.4 PPG. The TRASH tournament began with the team meeting in which Matt Bruce welcomed everyone to the NAQT ICT. Thomas Chuck -- the real host of the tournament -- asked Matt in public, "Matt, what are you... on crack?" The only other item of note was James Dinan's failed stand-up routine making fun of anorexic TV characters. Details of the deJesus-Goss steel cage match forthcoming.
