I will be the first to respond to this with a resounding "yes, we'd rather have it in the same place to keep it out of places like Minneapolis." I believe in giving schools a chance to host, since I suppose it's beneficial to them financially or something. Sure. But perhaps we shouldn't put national tournaments in places farther than 10 hours from any previous ICT site unless they're a) exciting destinations or b) easily accessible cities. I know from Austin the lowest fare I've seen recently to Minneapolis is over 300 bucks, while right now we could buy tickets for ICT weekend to Chicago for under 200. Yes, Chicago is the best city. People enjoy going there, airfare's cheap, and there's a high concentration of teams in the area. ICT never having been within 10 hours of a site is not necessarily a good thing. While the entry fee for ICT already seems exorbitant, I'd gladly pay an extra 100 bucks to save 150 a person on airfare and go somewhere I might actually go of my own volition. No offense, Minnesota. I realize that it is most likely too late to change things this year, and this misguided decision will not stop me from attending (qualification aside), but in the future a barrage of complaints and board posts saying "Hey, we really really think this is a bad idea" should be fielded publicly and with more consideration.
