The Bowling Green State University Academic Quiz Team, in partnership with the Mahoning Valley Quiz Bowl Association, is hosting the BRAVE Falcon 2007 high school quizbowl tournament on Saturday, November 17th, and we would be honored to have students from your school attend. Students from all high schools are invited to attend and compete in teams of four. Questions will be of an academic nature using NAQT (tossup/bonus) format using the NAQT question set 71A. As a matter of competitive integrity, please ensure your team has not played these questions before registering. All teams will be guaranteed seven games; the final format will depend on the number of teams registered. On November 17th, sign-in will start at 8:30 am with a light breakfast (bagels or doughnuts) served. Play begins at 9:30, so please arrive by 9:00 if possible. Lunch will be on your own. Several fast-food restaurants are within walking distance and campus dining halls will be open; we'll provide maps and suggestions. We anticipate that the tournament will be over around 4:00 pm, followed by a presentation of trophies and appropriate awards. (Every effort will be made to conclude the tournament PRIOR to kickoff of Ohio State- Michigan, for those concerned.) Fees for teams to compete are $70 for varsity teams and $50 for junior varsity. $10 discounts are awarded for providing both working buzzer systems and experienced reader/moderators (1 discount of each category per team, but please bring more if available). Packets of questions from this tournament or last year's BRAVE Falcon are also available for $8 after the tournament. We ask that your registration be received by November 1. Teams may be accepted after that date at the discretion of the tournament director. We sincerely hope that your team considers attending our tournament. The Academic Quiz Team in partnership with the MVQBA hopes to provide a fun day of friendly competition, and we hope that our tournament provides a positive experience and promotes the sport of quizbowl in our region. We work very hard to ensure a well-organized, fair, fun competition for all involved, and we hope that you will join us on November 17th.
