ACF Fall Northwest University of Washington Saturday, November 22nd, 2008 ANNOUNCEMENT: The Quizbowl Team at the University of Washington is pleased to announce its probable first ever non-CBI tournament, ACF Fall, on Saturday, November 22nd, 2008. This date is two weeks later than the rest of the country so that teams have more time to get ready for the tournament. The questions will be provided by the good folks at ACF, with the head editor this year being Andrew Hart. Since this tournament is announced so late and we do not know of any teams that would have to write a packet anyways, there is no packet submission requirement for this tournament. On the day after this tournament, we plan to host the Northwest TRASH Regionals (see the separate announcement for the details regarding this tournament, to be posted once we receive final confirmation from TRASH). ELIGIBILITY: In order to bolster the spirit of competition, this tournament will be open to all teams in the area pending approval from the tournament director. However, teams whose players do not all meet the ACF requirements for playing for one college or university's team will not be eligible for the general title. We are for the moment capping the field at 8 teams, although we are allowing each school to bring up to 2 teams. If you want to bring more teams, please let me know and we'll consider the options. PRICING: Please see the ACF Fall pricing guide here: http://www.hsquizbowl.org/ acf/acf.html. We anticipate that most teams will qualify for discounts for not playing ACF or NAQT questions before. Other discounts: Buzzer Discount: -$5 per working buzzer per school Moderator Discount: -$10 per competent moderator per school Travel Discount: -$10 for traveling over 250 miles one way to attend this tournament Minimum fee per team: $50 REGISTRATION: To register, please contact tournament director Mike Bentley at uwquizbowl_at_.... Please indicate how many teams, buzzers and moderators you are bringing to this tournament. Details regarding the venue and specific time of the tournament will be sent out approximately a week before the tournament date. We anticipate the tournament last from around 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM. MISC: Because we do not want to hold up discussion of ACF Fall for two weeks, we ask that people attending this tournament refrain from reading commentary on the ACF Fall set on this message board. The questions will also not be posted online until after this tournament has concluded. Hope to see everyone in November, Mike Bentley Tournament Director
