After reading these posts, several e-mails, and mulling over where the implications of our plan would take us in terms of our team's ability in hosting future tournaments down the road, I've decided to scrap the idea. I'd also like to say that I was the one who brought up the idea in the first place, although it was more of an idea I just threw out there just for the sake of throwing something out there. Imagine my surprise when everyone (on our team) seemed to like it much more than I thought they would. Well, that's the story for all those wondering. I guess since I've now been dubbed the unofficial tournament director, I may as well do the responsible thing as of this moment. Participant happiness is our main priority, and it seems as though the people who are bewildered/in disagreement with the rules both outnumber and are more vocal than those who favor them--this general mood will likely carry into the tournament we run. We really do risk turning into a circus sideshow, and believe me, that is not what we intended. Henceforth, let all talk of character classes be stricken from the record books. Pretend it was a bad dream. I'm pretty convinced now that the best thing to do is run a straightforward trash tournament (if that's not an oxymoron). I believe this is the right thing to do. -Jonathan
