National Academic Quiz Tournaments, LLC, is pleased to announce that it is now accepting bids from colleges to host Sectional Championship Tournaments (SCTs) in the 2000-2001 competition year. SCTs will be held on the weekend of February 10-11, 2001. Interested hosts should e-mail naqt_at_... by May 5, 2000, to indicate their desire to host. NAQT hopes to announce the selected hosts by June 1, 2000. Important information: * SCTs must be run according to official NAQT rules (which may be found at <a href=http://www.naqt.org/rules.html; target=new>http://www.naqt.org/rules.html;</a> in particular, they must be timed. Hosts who fear that they might be short on clocks may contact NAQT in order to borrow some. * The application to host must be made by a team member or advisor who plans on remaining with the host institution throughout the 2000-2001 competition year and who intends to take an active role in the planning and execution of the event. * Hosts may choose the format, but it must guarantee teams at least 12 games. 20 packets will be provided by NAQT. Single elimination play-offs may not be used. Point- or head-to-head-based tiebreakers may not be used to break ties that determine championships or play-off qualification; such situations must be resolved by full or partial games. * Hosts must offer separate Division II competition if at least six teams are interested. Hosts must offer separate Division I competition if at least six teams are interested. Separate Division I and Division II packets may or may not be provided as was done in the past. [ continued ]
