"Running a tournament with questions off the Web
archive is obviously a bad idea, and NAQT charges
hectobucks for its tournament sets."
While this
statement is literarlly true--a license to use an
invitational series for a collegiate tournament being $225 (15
packets)--it ignores the fact that NAQT has historically been
willing to provide questions very cheaply to
"underserved" regions in order to stimulate the development of
quiz bowl circuits. A great example is the Pacific
Northwest where, among other tournaments, the 2000 SCT was
free to participants.
