I did watch Challenge of the Child Geniuses (I found it quite funny, yet sad, that the promos for the program had the show's name WRONG - calling it "Battle of the Child Geniuses" - right until the very end. Same ol' Fox :), and I would rate it a 6-7 out of 10. As far as the mistakes go...I didn't know about Caxton/Claxton, and I didn't catch upon any other errors in the questions and answers (noticed the judges were very forgiving on pronunciation at least twice, with Versailles and Kiliminjaro). So you can lump me with Shawn in being ignorant :) For the most part, the questions, IMO, were decent for players of that age. Dick Clark did a decent job as host. He's lost a step or two since his Pyramid days, but his low-key personality and professionalism was a perfect match for a show of this magnitude. Plus, he did not speak down to the contestants, which is the Achilles heel of many bad MC's. My negatives? The opening of the show looked like the winner would win Darva Conger's hand in marriage :P Also, the lighting and suspenseful background music, which has become the norm of all prime time game shows, could have been eliminated. Admittedly, I was concerned about the playability of Challenge - would two hours of academic question make for an entertaining program? My answer - yes. James
