High School Quiz Bowlers: Clemson University, in the beautiful Upstate of South Carolina, is pleased to announce the Fracas 2000 High School Quiz Bowl Tournament. This tournament, hosted by the Clemson University Academic Quiz Team, will be run as an untimed NAQT-qualifying, one-day event. We will hold this year's tournament on Saturday, September 30, 2000 in the new Hendrix Student Center on Clemson's main campus. Rounds will consist of 20 tossups and boni, with a brief pause in the action after 10 toss-ups for a score check. We are providing the question packets from NAQT. Full explanations of the rules are available at: http://www.naqt.com/rules.html We expect to limit the field to 20 teams. The tournament will be run in two 10-team divisions (random assignment). Each team will play a minimum of nine games. The top two teams from each division will then move into the Final Four. Team 1 from Division A will play Team 2 from Division B and Team 2 from Division A will play Team 1 from Division B in the first round. The final round will pit the first round winners against each other for the championship and the losers will play a consolation round for 3rd and 4th places. Beginning immediately, we will reserve slots for teams who plan to compete. After 20 teams reserve slots, we will place additional teams on a waiting list. To reserve slots for the tournament, contact David Swindell at: dswinde_at_....
