Hello everyone! Before we here at BU begin bombarding the mailing list with 17 different tournament announcements that'll get lost in the shuffle, I thought it would be a good idea for me to combine all the events we'll be hosting into one concise e-mail that can get lost in the shuffle. I'm sending it to the high school list as well, since our bargain of a high school tourney on December 9th is also included. Here goes... *** BU and Harvard proudly present CRIMSON PUPPY CHOW 4: (Witty Subtitle TBD), a junior-bird event set for SAT. OCTOBER 14TH at Boston University's College of Arts and Sciences. To be eligible to play in CPC4, a player may have up to one year of experience through NAQT, TRASH, or CBI play (Exclusive CBI players may have up to two years of experience, since they don't get out much.) Basically, if you played QB just last year, you're all set. Base fee will be $90/team, with discounts for additional teams from the same school, buzzers, and competent moderators. All questions will be provided by NAQT, so no submission is necessary. For more info or to register, e-mail me directly or qbowl_at_.... *** BU is proud to host the 2000 NE TRASH REGIONALS, a qualifier for 2001 TRASHionals, on SAT. NOVEMBER 4TH at Boston University's College of Arts and Sciences. Any team may play in TRASH Regionals, be they collegiate, high school, masters, bastards, candlestick makers, it matters not. We would generally like to keep a northeast flair, as there will be the other regionals teams can play in. Base fee last year was $75/team, with various discounts for travel distance, moderators, etc. All questions will be provided by TRASH, so no submission will be necessary. For more info, contact either qbowl_at_..., or resident TRASH master Mark Coen at mjcoen_at_.... *** BU is extremely proud to present the BAY STATE QUIZ BOWL CLASSIC 3, a high school event set for SAT. DECEMBER 9TH at Boston University's College of Arts and Sciences. This will be our third foray into what has become one of our favorite events, both to witness and to hold. Any high school or proper international equivalent is both eligible and encouraged to attend, though we would like to keep a northeastern flavor, since the main purpose of our tournament is to foster the growth of the HS circuit in this part of the country. Base fee was just $30/team last year, and things will most likely stay the same this time around. Discounts are available for buzzer systems (something we will need teams to bring if they can), moderators, and for travel distance. All questions will be provided by NAQT, so no submission will be necessary. For more information, don't hesitate to contact me directly or via qbowl_at_.... *** BU will be holding our crown jewel intercollegiate event, TERRIER TUSSLE 10, on SAT. FEBRUARY 3, 2001 at BU's CAS building. Since this will be the 10th anniversary of the event, look for something special to happen this year. It's my goal to start trying to push the Tussle into one of the premier intercollegiate events in the country. Whether or not that actually happens, we'll have to see. Base fee was $100/team last year, with applicable discounts for moderators, buzzers, and travel distance. New teams may also be able to play for free, or at large discounts. It is a question submission event, but we needn't get into that now. For more information, contact qbowl_at_.... *** BU has been awarded a Sectional Championship Tournament for NAQT's 2001 NCT, to be held in St. Louis that April. Our SCT will be held SAT. FEBRUARY 10TH 2001, at BU's CAS building. More details will be available at a later date. *** We may also hold a trash-style event in April, though that's very tentative and too far off to really worry about. That's it from here. I wish everyone luck as we start a new class year, and I hope to see all of you at one of our tourneys this upcoming s
