The statement was made in the first post in this
thread that I had checked the Carleton "Frequency of
Mention" database last year and found zero mentions of
Kleist's "The Prince of Homburg." I doubt I could have
reported exactly this, since this is indeed not so and
wasn't so a year ago. In fact, that work has been
mentioned a number of times, though several less than
"Michael Kohlhaas."
For the record, the Carleton
database currently shows the following for
Kleist:
7 mentions for Michael Kohlhaas,
5 mentions for
The Broken Pitcher (aka The Broken Jug),
4
mentions for The Prince of Homburg,
2 mentions each for
Amphitryon, The Marquise of O, Penthesilea, and The
Schroffenstein Family, and
1 mention for an essay called "On
the Puppet- Theatre."
These are of course only
totals from the particular 109 tournaments (1982-2000)
whose literary, artistic, or musical title have been
entered into the database to date.
