Boston University offers its perennial invitation to all eligible teams to play at the TRASH NE Regional on Saturday, November 4, 2000. The event will take place at the College of Arts and Sciences building, located at 685 Commonwealth Avenue. WHO CAN PLAY? Teams are welcome from the following locations: * New England * the Northeast US, including New York, New Jersey, and other type areas. * the Canadian Maritimes, Quebec, and Ontario * Nebraska * anywhere else that could be, in some way shape or form, considered to be covered by the designator "NE" WHAT'S THE FORMAT? Teams will play some form of round-robin tournament. It may be straight, double, or modified, depending on number of teams. If past experience stands to form, we'll do a double round robin with no playoffs. All teams will play at least 12 rounds. Questions, of course, are provided by TRASH. We'll play using the modified NASL standings form we toyed with at Cancel Bowl this summer: 3 points for a win, and both teams score a point for every 100 points they score per game. Teams will also be able to lame one bonus per round. We will also once again shamelessly rip off Michigan and utilize the "get out of -5 free card" to allow teams a second bite at the apple (you'll still lose the points, but your team returns into play). OK, HOW MUCH IS THIS GOING TO RUN US? 21st century fun at 20th century prices! They're unchanged from last year! First team: $75 Second team: $60 Third team and on: $50 Buzzer system: -$10 Game official: -$10 Distance discount: -$10 per player from at least 150 miles away Clock: +$10 (we're untimed, people!) Teams from Nebraska and all non-US locations: FREE! Minimum fee (for teams not playing gratis, as noted above): $30/team WHAT ARE WE PLAYING FOR? The teams competing at the NE TRASH Regional are playing for many things. Pride, for example. They're also playing for a first place trophy that is either an unused waste disposal unit or made from things found on the street (or in my apartment, which is more or less the same thing). More importantly, teams are playing for automatic bids (and standing for wild card bids) to TRASHionals, the grand championship tournament for TRASH. TRASHionals 2001 will be held, fittingly, on the weekend of April 1. The location for TRASHionals will be announced shortly; by shortly I mean sometime prior to March 31, 2001. ALL RIGHT, YOU SOLD ME. HOW DO I GET THERE? Directions to the Charles River Campus are available at: http://www.bu.edu/admissions/visit/campus/directns.html At this point, aim to be here at 9 AM (at the specific location TBA). SO WHO DO I TELL THAT I WANT TO PLAY? Please send all inquiries to qbowl_at_.... You'll get more detailed info as we get closer to the event. ANYTHING ELSE? Nope. Thanks for reading. Register for the NE TRASH Regional early and often!
