Hi Everyone, I haven't read here since heaven knows when but this club came up in conversation on the ride home from work, so here goes. Of the top of my head... HIGH SCHOOL "The first president to ride to his inauguration in an armored car..." "Abraham Lincoln!" --me, circa 1989(?), as eventually shown to a national television audience. (Okay, the Discovery Channel, but still.) COLLEGE Not me, but the same teammate twice in the spring of 1996: "Eliminate the unwanted <buzz - but a moderator who let out a few words too many> using hair, eyes..." "Categorical Imperative" (real answer: _Singled Out_ [that MTV dating game show]) "First released in newspaper form in nineteen seventy-<buzz>" "Pentagon Papers" (real answer: _Our Bodies, Our Selves_) GRAD SCHOOL Surely I've had better negs than this (saying Mahatma Ghandi when the correct answer was Will Rogers comes to mind), but I'll go for the cheapo that you've all probably heard to death already: "Pre-heat oven to 450 degrees..." "Crack!" (right answer: _pecan pie_) REAL WORLD People with full-time jobs probably aren't supposed to play quiz-bowl, but there are always summer tournaments and stuff, places where you can buzz in early and say "Harvard" when the correct answer was the _Republican_ Party. Matt P.S. In the DEJA VU category because I did this at least twice in practice, two years apart (probably the same question & pack). Some question that basically the plot of some Shakespeare play, and each time I rang in DEAD CERTAIN it was "Gallows Pole - Led Zeppelin!" Both times that was just wrong.
