<<I do have a few complaints though. The layout of Williams Hall is incredibly asanine. People should not have to take an elevator to go one floor. . . . Is there no other building on Penn's campus that could accomodate PB? Here, we're lucky to have our College of Arts and Sciences, but surely there must be something easier to get around in at Penn.>> Unfortunately, since the powers that be decided to stop reserving DRL, no: Williams Hall is basically the only other building on campus with 30+ classrooms. <<My last comment is something that's bothered me for the three PB's I've been at as player and staff. Samer did a better job of including more team's questions in play packs, but still did not include some of everyone's. Speaking from personal experience, BU has not had a question used in any of the last three Penn Bowls, and this year our pack was even rejected and sent back to us once before being accepted (I think 1 or 2 were used in the backup pack, but it's only by accident those saw the light of day.) To ask a team to submit 72 questions and then tell them that not one of them is usable is a slap in the face.>> No offense was meant by this. Basically, your packet was the last one to be completed by the rest of the team. Therefore, as the goal was 18 preliminary packets, on those grounds *and those grounds alone* I made it the backup packet. Had someone else's packet come in last, that would have been the backup round, and I assure you, your round would have been used. And, to answer Craig's comment: I agree that we could have stopped the packet errors if we had held up all the rooms. The problem with this is that it led to some long delays when we did it at PB8. Given this year's events, though, I am fairly certain we will return to that system next year. --STI P.S. The reason for the index card rule is this: if you read the same bonus to both teams, then, regardless of the ultimate outcome, neither team can complain that they got short shrift, as both heard the same question; you don't, for example, replace a pop culture bonus with a quantum mechanics question.
