is the follow-ups. They're the same every year: 1) A qb player who may or may not be new to Penn Bowl writes a commentary about how this year's Penn Bowl had some problems (locked doors, misread packets, and the like are so common at tournaments that it would be shocking to see a 60+ team tournament without something going wrong) that popped up. 2) A Penn team member writes back, saying that, yes there were problems, but they think the tournament went as well as could be expected from Penn. 3) An older, more jaded and often vaguely disliked qb player writes in to say that Penn Bowl is the same every year, like it or not, and that PB fills a certain niche. Usually there is a tiny comment common to most upper-level players, that is, that a question or two wasn't quite up to par. But again, they say, that's to be expected. 4) Someone overreacts in one of two manners. They either mistranslate the older player's comments as meaning "How dare Penn Bowl ask me a stupid question like XXX? I deserve Nationals level questions!" or "Penn team members must be buffoons if they expect me to put up with this lack of organization!" This is followed by a rush of responses saying "Can YOU do it better?" and "Why don't you just not show up?" 5) Lots of people shake their heads and realize that the above interpretations are false. Other people are duped into believing that person 3 is a jackass on a high horse. 6) Everyone shows up to Penn Bowl again the next year. Because really, there's nothing like it. josh
