There's always talk about what are and are not okay questions to ask...For example, it's okay to "identify the novel from characters" but not necessarily okay to ask "given the description, identify the character from Oliver Twist". There are people out there who think that this situation needs "righted". Does anyone agree? Do people (especially you long-time folks) feel as though they've seen some questions far too many times? I propose that a packet-submission "expand the canon" tournament be held, with several mirrors across the country. Scripps College will offer to do the editing, distribution, all the junk that no one else wants to do. We'll also create a brief survey to see how people felt about the tournament, so that the QB community can have some idea of what is and isn't 'okay' to ask. In addition, I think it'll be fun and give all players some ideas about what questions other people have always wanted to hear. I would suppose that most of the questions in these packets would be the "regular" canon questions, but that a few would be new and different. For example, I'm sure no one would want 20 questions on polio, though I could write them. What does everyone think? I know this idea isn't terribly well-fleshed out above, but hope you get the gist. I'm guessing we'd have to do this late this spring but probably early next fall. Replies can (of course) be posted here, or be sent to me, bristlesage_at_... Nancy
