***ULTIMATE NAME THAT TUNE CHAMPIONSHIP *** >From UNTTC Emcee Bill D'Amico: The results from the Ultimate Name That Tune Championship are as follows: The qualifying round ranked the top ten scorers who went on to participate in the "lightning round" portion of the competition. The top 3 scorers in the qualifying round, each receiving more than 50% of the total possible points, were Dave Murphy, Jeremy White, and Jeremy Hicks. The grueling final round featured some particularly obscure songs from the 60s-80s. Despite the esoteric nature of the material, the contestants still managed to name an astonishing 80% of the tunes that were played. Highlights included: Brian Hight, decked out in a 70s-era leisure suit, naming Barry Manilow - "Copacabana," Jethro Tull - "Locomotive Breath," and Mason Williams - "Classical Gas"; Jeremy Hicks naming Led Zeppelin - "The Rain Song" and The Who - "Eminence Front"; and Dave Murphy (the Name-That-Tune King) naming The Tubes - "Talk to Ya' Later," Quarterflash - "Find Another Fool," The Hooters - "All You Zombies" and, amazingly, the final song, EBN-OZN - "AEIOU (Sometimes Y)." The top five players each got to take home two 80s cassettes as their prizes. The top five players were: 1. Dave Murphy 2. Brian Hight 3.(tie) Jeremy Hicks 3.(tie) Jeremy White 5. Lisa Edmonds Congtratulations to all players.
