>I find the players of Dickinson (a new and most >welcome addition to the circuit) to be very >friendly and polite to us, despite the fact >that we never once let up in a school-record >500->30 victory Let me first point out that Dickinson's college bowl team stretches as far back as the TV show, on which the school won the required five matches (in 1969?). Now, let me further correct this misunderstanding by stating that when I joined the Dickinson team in fall of 1993, it had been going for quite a while. Dawn Bickerstaff captained through '96, and I held the reigns for a year. During that time we went on the road as much as possible, as usually 3-4 weekends a semester. I do agree that they haven't been as active since I left, and I think money might be part of that story, something that I personally might address sometime the college calls me begging for a donation. So, Dicksinson is not really a new addition to the circuit. On a personal note, I was quite tickled to be able to play against them at this year's Penn Bowl. In fact, during our 45 minute wrong-packet-read wait, myself, Dickinson, Maryland and others played a trash packet, and I was quite impressed with Dickinson's speed on a few tossups (and even the old alum managed to get Celebrity Deathmatch and add 10 to the school's total). Now having said that, I too was on the wrong end of 600-5 losses with Dickinson. We never got too upset, we were just glad to get off campus for a day. A few of us were on the speech team which actually did place on occasion, so our time was divided between the two competitions. Dickinson used to enjoy CBI as it usally was our best record of the year. I'd have to say that Delware is currently feeling about the same having just captured a long-sought title. Congrats Blue Hens!! On another note, have I scored my first NAcutie? I noticed a reference to a certain Twelve Days tossups a few posts back :) -Bill
