I had(have?) very noble intentions when i designed my stats program and i thought that in order to make it more powerful and more user friendly that i needed to take more drastic programming steps to accomplish this. In order to do this quickly and easily, and to use the existing functionality of Excel, i decided just to write my program in Visual Basic for Applications v6, which comes with Excel 2000. However i am beginning to regret that decision as my program died, without provocation or warning in the middle of our hs tournament sunday. Luckily i had a saved version, but this kind of behavior is not acceptable in a time and data critical situation. So what i may do (and i sorta dread this... but i'm still willing) is to do a complete rewrite. So...my question to all of you is...What would your ideal stats program be like? This includes relevant/interesting statistics, the type of computer that it should run on, should it be stand alone or is do you like it to run under excel, the programming language to make it in (should you have such an opinion...), etc. I have the time and the knowledge to do this (i think....) and, more importantly, i do want to, so please take advantage of this. All i ask is to have some feedback, some ideas. I can take it from there. I doubt that i can accomidate everyone but i hope that i can make a program that allows for this very difficult (and important) task to be done in a accurate and timely matter. So some ideas of things to tell me... What kind of computer will you have available to you typically?... Do you want to know PPG, PP X tossups, bonus conversion, etc.?... would you want it web based?... I would appreciate any and all responses. Thanks. Jon Misurda
