Straight education would be my vote as well.
Straight linguistics would not be too far behind (sorry,
Victoria!).
On the merits of a Foreign Language
major: not only does one have to study the history and
culture of the target language, more often than not, one
has to study the *literature*. We have questions pop
up on german authors/philosophers (which sometimes
go hand in hand) all the time. Same goes for French,
Spanish, Classics and Russian...
I dont know how my
limited abilities in Tagalog will be of any use, tho...
;-)
Always,
