Since I just kvetched about somebody else's tournament, I guess it's my turn in the hot seat: The Third Annual Montgomery Burns Tournament for Outstanding Achievement in the Area of Popular Culture will be held on Saturday, the 4th of August at the cinder block fortress that is the Modern Languages Building at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. This is a 1-on-1 tournament that requires packet submission. If you do not have a packet, you do not play. It is also recommended that this should not be your first trash tournament. Since the tournament director (me) plays, these packets will not be edited, so you are responsible for trying to make packets be as conformist as possible to the distribution. The distribution (10 music/10 movies/10 sports/10 TV/10 other) will not be that different from any of the other TRASH tournaments I have run, so you pretty much know the drill. A more detailed distribution will come in June. There will be some form of split-round-robin followed by power matching. If there are also enough undergraduates, they will have their own division as well. Also, there will probably be an outing to Comerica Park to see the Detroit Tigers against the Oakland Athletics on the day after (Sunday the 5th). There will also be the usual game show round afterwards, although I might move it to my condo's clubhouse in order to take advantage of a large screen TV and just getting off of campus. Questions, answers, comments -- you know where to find me... Mike Burger (mmb5_at_...)
