I'm not sure what I specifically believe about having a Division II, I'm tending to believe that the system is better the way it is, but I have some thoughts about it, regardless. I am a freshman, and I went to ACF Regionals at Chicago on a team with 3 freshman and 2 sophomores. Safe to say, we went 0-14 and got creamed by Chicago, Michigan, Illinois, etc... That said, I still did have a fun time there and I think I learned a lot from sitting and listening to those questions, even though I wasn't able to answer many tossups. However, since then, there have been tossups that I have gotten at practice or at NAQT Sectionals, because I remember hearing similar questions at ACF Regionals. Therefore, I may not have done well competing against graduate students etc..., but I still believe that it was a productive experience. I don't think I would have learned as much for future quiz bowl use if I had played easier questions. ACF may be hard, but it allowed me to learn a lot that I didn't know already. And when I did get a tossup, it was good for me, because I was able to know how hard it was for me to do so. That said, how about my favorite baseball team, the 9-2 Minnesota Twins!! A little more successful than my team at ACF Regionals. Joel Gluskin Washington University in St. Louis
