I didn't want to respond to this post, but the intimations it makes are too annoying and innaccurate. First off, I believe that Steve is referring to myself and David Hamilton watching the Michigan A-Virginia match and Andrew reading. I don't think that there's anything wrong with this - at any tournament people want to see the two best teams to play each other. To make anything more than that out of this is just ridiculous. At that point in the tournament, those were the two number one seeds, and being in the last round, it could have been the decisive match, for if Virginia won, they would have won the tournament outright. Now correct me If I'm wrong, but this match clearly generates more interest than a UVA-Kentucky match, which was played in the round robin, not in the playoffs, and was not nearly as important to immediately determining the outcome of the tournament. In fact I only saw Michigan A one other full time during the entire tournament, when I read for them one round (I did see the last two TU's of another of their matches). Another thing about this Michigan A-Virginia match. At one point, after a Michigan neg, John Kenney clearly SPOKE to one of his teammates telling him not to buzz or something along those lines. If this was such a celebration of Michigan A partisanship on our part, David and I would easily have been within the rules of disqualifying Virginia from ringing in on that tossup, instead of giving the warning that we did.
