I can only assume Mike Hoey-Lukakis was talking about the packet put together by my team, the Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs, when he said "Excepting a packet that ignored the distribution and was not afraid to suck in about 10 different ways ..." I will defend the packet by saying, as packet editor, that the 25-25 we sent met the distribution. Our team happened to have a comic book person who wrote what may have been hard questions to answer (not being a comic book person, I can't say for sure). We also had several on games and sports not usually covered in quiz/trash, but there is no rule against that -- in fact, I was proud that our packet did not contain the usual glut of questions on the NFL, NHL, NBA and MLB (major league baseball, not Matt L. Bruce ;) I was also proud that our packet contained several questions I would consider "chick trash" -- speaking as a chick, it's about time more people write these kinds of questions rather than "here are three questions about porn mags for men." And just to fire back at Mr. Hoey-Lukakis because I'm a bitter old woman, he freely admitted that his packet contained numerous funk/soul questions because there were none at TRASHionals. Did that meet the standard of spreading questions around the genres within a category? I think not. I will agree with him, however, that Darmouth ran a fine tournament, complete with yummy pizza and soda at lunch and a feed of the NFL draft to boot.
